The Historic Canton Church will complete our Summer Schedule of Events on Friday, August 23 at 5:00 p.m. The Historic Canton Church will present the Curator of the Broadwater County Museum, Linda Huth, with a talk about the Woman’s Clubs in Broadwater. The talk centers around this year, 2024, being the celebration of the 100th birthday of the Canton Valley Woman’s Club.
Linda Huth has been the curator of the local museum for 14 years and has presented several talks about local history. This is the fourth historical talk she has given at the Canton Church. She has also given talks at the museum and some local businesses in Townsend. She is a member of a family with a history of 8 generations in Broadwater County. So local history is of great interest to her.
The museum, located at 133 North Walnut Street, will end its season on September 15th so if you haven’t visited, you still have time to do so.
The Historic Canton Church was built in 1875-1876 and is one of the few surviving buildings from the town of Canton which was flooded during the creation of Canyon Ferry Lake. All of our events begin at 5:00pm but the Canton Church will be open to visitors from 3:00-5:00 pm before events.
