The deadline for Big Sky, Big Leadership in Broadwater County is fast approaching! Applications are due Wednesday, August 28th.
Big Sky, Big Leadership is a statewide community leadership initiative developed by MSU Extension and offered at the county level. It seeks to address the need for leaders in rural communities and help participants develop skills, increase understanding of local community dynamics, and improve community awareness of local issues.
The program will start Friday, September 13 and includes nine sessions from September through May. The program will take place on the second Friday of every month at locations across Broadwater County including Townsend, Radersburg, Toston, Wheatland and Silos/Winston. With the exception of the first session, each class will run approximately from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The first class ends at 4:30 pm. Each session includes leadership skill development and a community experience. Leadership topics include communication, conflict management, personality styles, generational differences, leadership styles and communication. The purpose of the community experience is to provide participates with the opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of local community resources and issues. Each session provides either an on-site visit or a guest speaker or panel to present critical information on a topic. Proposed experiences include agriculture, local government, county growth, education, manufacturing and natural resources.
The program tuition is $175 which includes lunch at every session. Scholarships are available. The application and program overview is attached.
