DESCRIPTION:BCDC (Broadwater County Development Corporation) will be hosting a Trails Forum at the Lodge on Wednesday\, Nov. 19 beginning at 6:30 pm.\n\nThe forum is open to the community and will provide information on the trail’s vision plan for Townsend and Broadwater County.\n\nThe keynote speaker will be Mr. Gene Townsend from Three Forks\, Mt. \nMr. Townsend took a vision 30 years ago that has now turned into approximately 20 miles of paved trails. The trails wind through Three Forks\, reaching all the way to the Missouri Headwaters State Park and west to the Drouillard Fishing Access on the Jefferson River. The trails are a resource for runners and bikers\, walkers and wheelchair users\, young families and seasoned adventurers.\nSome of his accomplishments are:\n\n\n\nHelped write the Gallatin County Trails Plan and the City of Three Forks Trails Plan\n\n\n\n\n\nHas written many successful grants to fund miles of new trails and related trail maintenance and infrastructure improvement projects\nConsistently encourages innovative partnerships that assist with implementation of trails projects.\nManages an Adopt-A-Trail maintenance program with 12 partnering groups\nCreated a community “Adopt-A- Mound” landscaping program; the program continues to provide necessary matching funds for grant programs while families landscape the mounds with flowers\, trees\, shrubs\, rocks and seasonal displays to increase the aesthetic value of the trail system\n\n\n\nMarshaled efforts to provide paved bike/ped paths connecting city sidewalks that are available at a variety of access sites throughout the trail system; the trails include three disability access restrooms along the trail system and a disabled fishing access area that also allows people to enjoy bird and wildlife viewing\n\n\n\nIn addition to Mr. Townsend\, Al Christophersen and Jen Dalrymple will also speak on the trails vision plan.\n  \n
