Spruce\nPreliminary proposals for 2025-2026 fishing regulations available for review\nHELENA – If you’re interested in providing input on how Montana Fish\, Wildlife & Parks is crafting fishing regulations for the next two years\, now is your chance. FWP is taking public comment and asking for ideas on initial proposals for the 2025-2026 Fishing Regulations. \nThe initial 64 proposals are online now and available for review and comment. Just go to fwp.mt.gov/aboutfwp/public-comment-opportunities/fishing-regulations. \nFWP is also looking for ideas for regulation changes that aren’t captured in these initial proposals. To answer questions and get feedback on fishing regulations\, FWP is hosting public meetings around the state. Staff will use the input to refine the regulation proposals that will go before the Fish and Wildlife Commission in October. The fishing regulations proposals that will be considered by commission will be available for public comment in August. The commission will adopt\, amend or reject the proposals at its October meeting. \nMontana’s fishing regulations are split into three districts – west\, central and east. Each district has standard regulations. Many of the proposals remove exceptions to district standards that are no longer biologically relevant. Others are intended to increase fishing opportunity\, enhance conservation efforts for some species\, reduce confusion or improve enforceability. All regulation changes are based on criteria or objectives outlined in the Statewide Fisheries Management Plan. \nSpecific statewide proposals include improving definitions of different types of hooks and adjusting regulations for cleaning and transporting fish. \nIn the Western Fishing District\, proposals include adjusting northern pike possession limits\, adjusting bag limits on the Blackfoot River and many tributaries\, implementing gear restrictions on the Kootenai River below Libby Dam\, and removing a lake trout slot limit on Whitefish Lake. \nIn the Central Fishing District\, proposals include allowing spearing for northern pike on Hauser and Holter reservoirs\, removing spearing for burbot at Tiber Reservoir and Lake Frances\, removing exceptions for walleye in the Missouri River from Toston to Canyon Ferry and reducing walleye bag limits from Holter Dam to Black Eagle Dam. \nFor the Eastern Fishing District\, proposals include clarification of paddlefish regulations because of the new fish bypass channel at Intake\, the addition of a tag for paddlefish snagging opportunities in the Missouri River below Fort Peck Dam\, regulations to conserve shortnose gar\, and conservative crappie limits on Tongue River Reservoir. \nFishing regulations are now under a process like hunting regulations\, going through a comprehensive public review every two years. Fishing regulations are printed during odd numbered years.

SUMMARY:Big Sky Culinary Classes - Dinner with Chef Heather Hatwan
DESCRIPTION:  \nBig Sky Culinary Classes & The Lodge of Townsend are pairing up once again\, to initiate an elevated\, fine dining experience IN Townsend! \nWe all know there is a need and desire for a different fare\, a high quality food establishment that we can enjoy without having to drive to another town\, here in Townsend. \nTogether we are collaborating to create a restaurant type environment that feels\, looks\, tastes and exemplifies the styles we drive miles to experience. \nHeather Hatwan & Tina Homann believe bringing to Townsend what we (and your expressed interest) ourselves would like to enjoy & would benefit the community immensely. Our idea is to have 3 course dinners\, 4 times a year with a full kitchen staff and wait staff. This concept would be a “Reservation Only” dinner to help us prepare efficiently to provide you with the service and meal you deserve. The menus will be carefully curated using the freshest of local ingredients including vegetables\, grains and meats. \nChef Heather’s Prix Fixe menu will be available for you to view online on the Big Sky Culinary Classes website https://www.bigskyculinaryclasses.com/ 2 weeks in advance to each dinner. The deadline for  Dinner #1 reservations is June 1st.  Reservations can be made a few different ways; By calling Heather  @ 303-406-1501\, emailing through the BSCC website portal or simply emailing bigskyculinaryclasses@gmail.com. \nOur 1st dinner will be held on June 8th at The Lodge with 2 seatings\, reservation only. Our 1st seating will be promptly at 6 pm\, the 2nd seating at 6:45 pm no later than 7 pm. We will have menus for you to review what you will be served that evening but there will be no “ordering” per se. \nThe Lodge has no liquor license\, therefore you are invited to bring your own alcohol\, wine or beer\, maybe a nice whiskey or scotch to enjoy during your meals. We will provide water and coffee\, cream and sugar\, wine and bottle openers etc… \nThe price per person\, for our 1st dinner\, is $55 for a 3 course steak dinner. If you make a reservation for 2 people the price will reduce to $50/person\, $100 for both (limited to 2 people). We will also offer incentives for you if you make reservations for all 4 of the dinners we are offering. The 1st will be a steak dinner\, the 2nd we will highlight seafood\, the 3rd will consist of a 3 course meal with chicken or duck as our main course and for our 4th menu\, lobster! \nChef Heather and her team are very excited about this new opportunity with you and look forward to starting something great that we all have been wanting for a long time here in Townsend! No pizza\, (maybe an elevated flatbread) no bar food (but food “above the bar”)\, a sophisticated environment with professionally trained staff!
