SUMMARY:Missoula Children's Theater Presents "Red Riding Hood"
DESCRIPTION:An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of RED RIDING HOOD in the stage gym at Broadwater High School on Monday\, February 27 from 3:45pm to 5:45pm Those auditioning should arrive at 3:40pm and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. \nAmong the roles to be cast are Red Riding Hood; her three Girlfriends; Little Loveable Wolf; the Hood Family; the Three Little Pigs:; a Woodsman; a Locksmith; Ranger Rooney; The Boy who Cried Wolf; the Wolfgang; Forest Shadows; and some rascally Raccoons. Students in Kindergarten through 12m grade\, are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. \nThe Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes\, scenery\, props and makeup. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from (start time) to (end time) each day. \nRED RIDING HOOD will be presented on March 4 at Broadwater High School. DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Broadwater County Lions annual Easter Egg hunt will be held Saturday\, April 8.  The event will be held at the courthouse lawn.  The hunt will start when the fire truck siren sounds at promptly 10:00 a.m.  The event is open to youths from 0 to 12 years of age. \nPrizes will be awarded to those finding specially marked eggs.  There will be a number of prizes for the 0-3 and 4-6 age groups.  Those in the 7-9 and 10-12 age group who find a special egg will receive a chocolate bunny.  Prizes are limited to one per child. \nThe Easter Bunny and the Easter Lion have agreed to make a special appearance at the event\, which\, depending on weather\, has an attendance of about 200 youth.

SUMMARY:Girl Scout STEM Van Coming to Townsend\, MT
DESCRIPTION:  \nBillings\, MT—May 31\, 2023—Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming (GSMW) will be bringing science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics programming to Townsend\, MT on Friday\, June 9 from 3:00pm – 4:30pm with their Mobile STEM Learning Center. Programming will take place at the Townsend Library located at 201 N. Spruce Street. All programming is free and open to girls in grades K-12. \nThe Mobile STEM Learning Center is a new resource to GSMW that will provide valuable programming to girls across 78 communities across Montana and Wyoming. The cargo-style van is equipped with solar to power the myriad of technology available to youth\, including 3D printers\, microscopes\, virtual reality headsets\, drones\, and more. \nThe Mobile STEM Learning Center will show possibilities\, provide knowledge\, and give hands-on STEM experience to girls at an early age. While more than half of the U.S. workforce is female\, less than one quarter of STEM careers are held by women. From their initial interest in STEM as a child to majoring in a STEM subject in college to pursuing a STEM career as an adult\, the gender disparity needs to change at every stage of girls’ and women’s STEM engagement. \nApproximately 67% of the population in Montana and Wyoming is rural. This translates to hurdles that can include a lack of access to honors courses\, high-level technology business exposure\, as well as limited access to quality curriculum and vigorous and engaging math and science courses. \nThe Mobile STEM Learning Center will allow GSMW to create and optimize an environment where girls explore freely\, expand their perspectives\, and hopefully pique their interest and confidence to explore STEM even more.
